The National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore was registered under the Societies Registration Act on 19th November 1984. It got registered as an institute of excellence to propagate and develop the Unani system of Medicine.
N.I.U.M (National Institute of Unani Medicine, Bangalore) works as a joint venture of the state Government of Karnataka and the Government of India. It has been affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science- Bangalore, Karnataka.
National Institute of Unani Medicine, spread around 55 acres of land, includes 100 Bedded Hospital, Library, Administrative Block, and Hostel building. For the development of a medicinal garden, the Institute owns 3 acres of land. Small Shrubs and Herbs have been planted around the academic block. In the Central Lawn of Laboratory, a demonstration block has been established with 11 medicinal and aromatic plants. Rare plants have been proposed to be planted in the future. For cultivating medicinal herbs, such as Centella Asiatica, Malissa Officinalis, Stevie Hibiscus, and Piper Longum at a wide scale. In front of the pharmacy, a plot is ready for this purpose.
A spacious and well-equipped library building is there in the campus with the rarest Manuscripts, the newest Books, Journals, and more. It has the facility of Xerox and Reprography. The Departments are furnished with the latest slide projector, computer systems, printers, OHP, and more to count. There is a separate pharmacy building within the campus, having the latest equipment and machines. The pharmacy caters to the needs of IPD & OPD. The Institute has been affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
