Bhakti is a Sanskrit word that derives its roots from the word “bhaj”, which means to worship God. Bhakti yoga is also known as the path of devotion. It is the path that leads to self-realization, which is nothing but supreme consciousness. It is the feeling of oneness with the divine spirit. This love or devotion towards God takes various forms or ‘bhava’ which are Shanta, Dasya, Madhurya, Vatsalya, and Sakhya. By practicing this form of yoga, one surpasses all worldly sorrows and experiences complete freedom from all fears and worries. A pure devotee shuns all selfish desires and learns to embrace love and tolerance by practicing Bhakti Yoga.
