Ladakh poses as one of the hotspots for Sowa-Rigpa in the country, encompassing both Governmental and Non-governmental institutions. The Sowa-Rigpa department in the central institute of Buddhist studies, Leh conducts a Kachupa six-year Kachupa course. This institute comes under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. In order to cater to public health, there is an OPD set up by the local administration in the district hospital. At the hospital, around 80 Amchis are provided with minimal finances to provide healthcare services in remote areas.
The National Research Institute for Sowa-Rigpa in Leh has been involved in a lot of Research and Development on multiple aspects of Sowa- Rigpa. This institute comes under the CCRAS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Apart from these institutions, many NGOs in Ladakh have been working for Sowa-Rigpa, such as Ladakh Society for Traditional Medicine, Ladakh Amchi Sabha, and Mentsee Khang Cultural Centre, Leh.
