National Institute of Siddha (NIS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Spread across an area of 14.78 acres, this institute focuses on the growth and development of Siddha. It is an institute that promotes research and healthcare in Siddha. It offers postgraduate courses for students aspiring to attain expertise in Siddha medicine. Not only that, but the institute also provides medical care, and encourages research pertaining to Tamil medicine. Registered under the Societies Act, the National Institute of Siddha is a joint establishment of the Central Government and the Government of Tamil Nadu. Both the central and the state government share a 60:40-ratio in terms of capital expenditure and a 75:25-ratio in terms of recurring expenditure for the first five years. Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India dedicated this institute to the nation on 3rd May 2005.

- Sirappu Maruthuvam (Special Medicine)
- Noi Nadal (Siddha Pathology)
- Maruthuvam(General Medicine)
- Kuzhandai Maruthuvam (Pediatrics)
- Nanju Noolum Maruthuva Neethi Noolum (Toxicology and Medical Jurisprudence)
These courses come under the Master’s degree in Siddha. Also, the institute has been authorized by the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R Medical University, Chennai for offering Ph.D. degrees in Siddha medicine.
