Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth, New Delhi

Established in 1988, Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth is one of the leading institutes that promote the knowledge of Ayurveda. Started in 1991, the institute took the initiative to restart the traditional method of Gurukula system of informal education in India. The institute is situated in New Delhi and governed by the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.

Courses Offered by the Institute

The institute offers Ayurvedic graduates and postgraduates, below a certain age, advanced practical training to become professional in the field of Ayurveda.  It provides a two-year course of Member of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (MRAV) to those who have completed post-graduation degree in Ayurveda in a related speciality. The programme focuses on providing the knowledge of Ayurvedic Samhitas related to their post-graduate degree.

It also offers a one-year Certificate course of Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (CRAV) for those who have completed their ‘Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery’ or equivalent degree. Under this programme, the students are provided training in the clinical practices of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic Pharmacy under the direct mentoring of eminent practising/rasa Vaidyas in different parts of the country.

Admission Process

The institute offers admission based on a written entrance test followed by an interview. It is important to have a good knowledge of Sanskrit language to take admission to the programmes. The institute offers a monthly stipend to the students (except sponsored candidates) involved in these courses. 

Admission on reserved seats of SC/ST/OBC candidates and physically challenged candidates will be done considering the Central Government policy prevalent from time to time.

  • Other than this, it publishes books for teachers, practitioners and students every year to promote Ayurveda studies.
