What is the Government doing for endangered Indian species of Medicinal Plants used in various formulations of Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy?

The Government is definitely not neglecting the preservation of the endangered species of medicinal plants. In fact, the Government is doing its best to protect the susceptible medicinal plants with as much care as possible. There are a number of ways in which the Government is striving to protect the vulnerable, endangered and threatened plants holding incredible medicinal importance. In the situ and Ex-situ conservation, the below-mentioned are some of the most significant steps that the Government has taken to look after the endangered Indian species of medicinal plants and make them obtainable for the worthwhile usage –

  • The development of Agro-methods for the cultivation of the medicinal plants for commercial usage.
  • Prohibiting the exportation of not just the endangered species of medicinal plants but also their extracts and goods made out of them.
  • Inspiring the farmers for the production and cultivation of commercially sustainable medicinal plants.

In addition to that, the Government has enforced constraint for extensive deforestation along with restricting the collection of raw materials of therapeutic significance from the wild sources.
